JENNIFER PARKFORD
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Being human isn't easy. It can be awkward, terrifying, beautiful, exciting, and bewildering. It requires us to grow. And growth, by its very nature, can be wildly uncomfortable. Life transitions of all kinds can feel unsettling, such as starting a relationship or a new job, exploring your sexuality, embarking on deeper connections and commitments with others, healing old wounds, quitting toxic habits or addictions, separating or divorcing from a partner, trying to conceive, having a child, moving to a new city, or losing a parent or friend --- to name a few. But you don't have to go through these big moments alone.
Therapy can provide a safe space for you to challenge lifelong patterns, address age-old wounds and traumas, and create a deeper, more compassionate sense of self. One of the most important relationships you will ever have is the relationship you have with yourself. Drawing from evidence-based and existential approaches, I utilize direct feedback, humor, metaphors, and visualizations to explore relational attachments and family roles, unhelpful emotional or behavioral patterns, and core beliefs. In essence, I strive to provide a warm and challenging environment to discover, process, and practice new ways of being.
